Oil Max Engine Oil Additive

The additive with part number 704 is based on a chemical composition that meets and exceeds the new requirements of the API SG standard for engine oils. One of the primary ingredients of the Engine Additive is the zinc compound, which is an antioxidant, but which also provides protection against abrasion and corrosion. Abrasion is the loss of metal leading to a change in the clearance between surfaces moving relative to each other. If it takes longer, the engine starts to run abnormally. The main factors causing abrasion are, among others: metal-to-metal contact, the presence of rough particles and the aggressive action of corrosive acids. Metal-to-metal contact can be prevented by adding compounds that form a layer that protects the surface either through physical absorption or through a chemical reaction. This zinc compound is widely used for this purpose, being particularly effective in reducing the abrasion of valve train mechanisms. Corrosion-induced abrasion is largely the result of acidic by-products formed during fuel combustion. This type of abrasion can be prevented by using alkaline additives such as alkaline sulfonates. Catalogue number 704 contains sulphonates obtained during oil refining for this purpose.
