Engine oils
Amsoil Break-In Oil (SAE 30) - Engine Break-In
Formulated without friction modifiers to allow piston rings to be installed quickly and efficiently in new and rebuilt high-performance and racing engines. Contains zinc and phosphorus additives to prevent wear, protect the engine during the critical break-in period when wear is highest.
AMSOIL Break-In Oil is an oil of the SAE 30 viscosity class, It is designed to increase compression, power and torque for maximum engine efficiency.
The primary purpose of engine bedding-in is to seat the rings in the cylinder wall. Properly seated rings increase compression for maximum power; They reduce oil consumption and prevent hot exhaust gases from entering the crankcase. To achieve this, however, the oil must provide an appropriate level of controlled wear. Insufficient "break-in" leaves unevenness on the cylinder wall that prevents the rings from seating.
The base oils in the Break-In Oil AMSOIL provide increased oil film strength to protect the engine from wear. AMSOIL Break-In Oil is designed to effectively "break in" high-performance and racing engines requiring SAE 30 oil, helping to maximize compression, power and torque.
RECOMMENDATIONS
Observe the bedding-in recommendations of engine manufacturers and builders, if possible. During the break-in period, the mileage should not exceed 1500 km. When the engine is new, a lot of oil will settle around the exhaust ducts (Fig.3). As the rings fit, less and less oil enters and the area of oil becomes smaller and smaller (Fig. 4). When the rings finally fit and there is a full seal between the cylinder walls, there will be no traces of oil in the exhaust passages. Another common method of checking if the rings have been matched is to perform a leak test, or power measurement. The break-in period varies depending on the engine. After the break-in period, drain the oil and fill the engine with AMSOIL synthetic oil, designed for high-performance engines, that meets the manufacturer's requirements.
