- For surface preparation before gluing and painting.
During many repair works, proper surface preparation is the key to success. This is particularly the case in the bonding process, as the strength of the joint depends on the adhesion between the surfaces to be bonded and the adhesive. Therefore, it is very important to thoroughly clean the elements not only of grease and dirt, but also of loosely attached materials such as rust, paint coatings and even dust.
Water-based cleaning agents usually contain anti-corrosion additives that remain on the cleaned surfaces (thus reducing adhesion forces), while metal surfaces are often covered with a layer of oxides, moreover, water leaves limescale deposits after evaporation.
With a view to obtaining adhesive joints with the best possible strength parameters, the Technical Degreaser was created – a mixture of solvents of very high purity.
Color: Clear
Consistency: liquid
Density: 0.7-0.85 g/cm3
Initial surface preparation: the components to be joined should be free of rust, dust and other dirt before using the degreaser.
Technical Degreaser Application:
- Using a brush placed under the cap, apply the degreaser to the area intended for the application of glue.
- Wipe with a dry and clean cloth included with the preparation.
- Repeat if necessary.
Tips:
- Before applying to delicate components, e.g. plastics, perform a test in an inconspicuous area. If the solvent contained in the preparation disturbs the material, before applying the degreaser, cover the surface with an unglued sticker, e.g. with a sticker with a hole cut out of the joint area.
- For very oiled items, pre-wash the surfaces with hot water and detergent (engine cleaner, dish soap) or use TECHNICQLL brand fireplace glass cleaner before degreasing. Rinse the pre-cleaned elements thoroughly in water.
- You can clean the remains of old glue, rust and oxides with sandpaper.
- Remember not to touch a clean, degreased surface with your fingers.
